Magic bearers are born with an affinity, boosting a specific skill of one of the professions by default (like a base stat/talent). Through studying and practice, one can master any skill and surpass those born with an affinity. Some traditional magic users believe (and it's taught like that in the academies too) that one can only truly master a profession if they were born with the affinity for it, while the modern approach disagrees.
Focusing on a field of magic results in choosing a profession and you gain a title after reaching a specific level. Depending on the person, the profession has the traditional name or the modern name (see list below).
Example: Adelita was born with an affinity for summoning and although she felt connected to spirits, decided she wants to get a Lunary degree at one of the universities. Her jackdaw familiar likes to go on its own adventures and rumour has it that Adelita can hear everything her avian companion hears. That would certainly explain while she's always in the loop about the newest gossip!
But enough about her companion, even though he's clearly the star here! Adelita is quite cheeky in nature and has a sharp tongue, she rarely means harm (right?) but can't hold back.Adelita was born with an affinity for summoning and although she felt connected to spirits, decided she wants to get a Lunary degree at one of the universities. She decided to switch her profession from Summoning to Lunar Studies after inheriting the staff of her great-great-great-great...grandfather, a sea warlock. She fought for the chance to receive it over other parts of her family trying to claim it and is since trying to prove her place in the magic world.

Tallulah is one of my more mysterious characters. Is she a doll? Or puppet? Who knows if those joints are even real.
You can't ask her unfortunately, given she lost the ability to speak way before she learned to walk.
She was born with no affinity mark on her back and as such, couldn't decide which one to learn. She was always shunned and never really fit in but carried a smile the entire time.
She mostly learned with the books she'd find at the library and remembering what they said. She lost her left eye in an accident because she misremembered an incantation.
Overall, not much is known of the personality she carries underneath that mild smile of hers.

Fitting elements: get creative! There is nothing specific in mind for her yet as she is quite mysterious in general. Feel free to draw her a bit more on the creepy spectrum of things if you'd like

The vampire girl with a snack-obsessed bat familiar. But do vampires actually exist in this world? No, right? Well, Neva certainly believes they should. So much that she's pretending to be a vampire 24/7/365!
She lives in an old, small church with glass stained red windows, telling everyone it was passed down to her by the vampire that turned her before he had to go take care of family business. The story she is making up about him is kind of a dramatic love story and not everyone likes to listen to it.
She rambles a lot
People usually don't take her serious but she is a crazy skilled House Witch, making use of her affinity to the max.

Fitting elements: feel free to design a church for her, bloody roses, mosaic, castles, playful things

⁺₊✧ --------------------- Necromancer

Vaerys likes to say she is married to the God of the Underworld and that's what gave her those horns - but the reality of things is that she just likes horns and veils.
There are mysteries over what kind of magic she possesses but those to find out are said to go missing... Simply being called a Necromancer would be an insult after all?! How dare!
Vaerys is easily offended and finds piece in her craft. She is one of the highest ranked Necromancers to date and in line to be the next priestess of the craft weren't it for her biggest rival.

Fitting elements: skulls/bones, a more creepy or dark atmosphere in general, gothic buildings
About other outfits: You can, like with any of my OCs, switch the outfits but for Vaerys you can't switch out the horns, only the decoration around it! She insists on them being real and would never be seen with different horns for that reason. Yes, she sleeps with them too, they are magically attached to her head!

A witch specialised in protection spells! She doesn't need a broom to fly because she can fly with her wings, an ability granted by her former familiar!
She was separated from her coven and prefers the company of birds, especially pigeons. Her design is based on a bleeding heart pigeon!

Descended from a long line of herbal witches who brewed potions and teas to heal and protect. Her grandmother was famous so Inès enrolled in an academy to follow her footsteps but dropped out after 3 terms. She dislikes overcomplicated spellcraft and herbal heresies (never put mint and lemon together!)
Kind to most, but has very firm ideas about manners, especially at the tea table.
Graceful movements but tries to show her young spirit.
Her wand is carved from lemonwood
Talks to her kettle as if it's an old friend. Possibly enchanted.
You'd expect her to collect fruity tea sets but she has a preference for flower ones.

Fitting elements: woods, especially near a river, collecting plants. Anything involving plants really! Obviously lemons or other citrus fruits too

Love spells, love potions, charmed love letters - you name it, she can do it! Carliena is obsessed with everything involving love.She doesn't have an actual cat familiar, she just charms whichever cat she finds. The spell lasts around three days and then she drops the cat off to their owner, or where she'd find them.

Fitting elements: woods, especially near a river, collecting plants. Anything involving plants really! Obviously lemons or other citrus fruits too
